Daily Counts
Daily Counts
Field workers enter daily inventory counts to track “hot products” — high-value and high-theft items requiring close monitoring.
Understanding Count Entry
Each product count tracks quantities in two locations:
Locker (Back Room Storage)
- Opening quantity
- Stock received today
- Stock moved to sales floor
- Damages/waste
- Closing balance = Opening + Stock In − Shelf Out − Damages
Sales Floor (Public Display)
- Opening quantity
- Stock moved from locker
- Damages/waste
- Closing balance = Opening + Shelf In − Damages
Data Entry Form
The count entry form uses a mobile-optimised layout:
- Number inputs with
inputmode="numeric"for easy mobile entry - Real-time calculations — closing balances update as you type
- Compact grid — all fields visible without scrolling
- Full-width Save button — easy to tap
Count Entry Scenarios
Scenario 1: New Delivery Day
Locker counts change significantly:
Opening: 50Stock In: 100 (new delivery)Shelf Out: 40 (to sales floor)Damages: 2Closing: 108Scenario 2: Normal Trading Day
Minimal locker changes, sales floor active:
Locker: Opening: 108 Stock In: 0 Shelf Out: 20 Damages: 1 Closing: 87
Sales Floor: Opening: 40 Shelf In: 20 Damages: 0 Closing: 60Scenario 3: Stock Transfer Only
Moving between locations, no new stock:
Locker: Opening: 87 Shelf Out: 30 (to sales floor) Closing: 57
Sales Floor: Opening: 60 Shelf In: 30 Closing: 90Best Practices
- Count before entering — Physically verify quantities first
- Check negative balances — System warns if closing is negative
- Include all damages — Record spoilage, theft, and waste
- Verify transfers match — Shelf out from locker should equal shelf in on floor
- Save before moving on — Don’t lose data; save each product
